SCRAPFIT Workout #21

This time the challenge over at http://scrapfit.blogspot.com/2010/06/workout-21-and-so-much-more.html was WORKOUT #21 “Exercise Machines”
For this challenge you must use a “machine”. What machines you might ask? Punches, Cuttlebug, Sizzix, Slice, Cricut—any or all will do.
Well guess what, I don't have a lot of punches much less machines. I own a Sizzix but don't have but one die (GASP!). I cut all my lettering out by hand either by using a stencil or making one from the computer. Anyway. . . .(wow, I am so long winded today!) I decided to use my long forgotten crimper. I guess that is a tool. You have to even look closely, the crimping is done on the strip across the middle of the page. These are a couple of my son's college graduation pictures. Isn't he "pretty" ;-)

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek!

SCRAPFIT Mini Challenge #2

I loved the new mini challenge this month over at http://scrapfit.blogspot.com/ ! The challenge was to make a tag. For me this was a way to get a kick-start on my Christmas gifts. Every year I make gift tags for all my fellow teachers. Well, I say every year, I didn't get to last year because my husband and I were too busy working second jobs. With the economy the way it has been, we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to make a good deal of "extra" money. The only problem was I barely finished my Christmas shopping, let alone got much crafting done. So when I saw this challenge I thought "YES!", I will actually start my Christmas crafting this summer. (Wow, I sure am gabby today, sorry.) I got these tags from a pair of Lee Jeans that purchases several years ago. As you can tell, these tags were begging to be altered.
They were held together with a piece of leather, which of course I have already used :) Here is the final product, my FIRST Christmas tag of 2010!

My 1st DIRTYSCRAPS!

I finally bit the bullet, sort of speak, and dove into the challenge over at http://dirtyscraps.blogspot.com/ . I am a huge fan of all their work but to be honest, I wasn't sure if I was ready. Oh well, too late for that thought. I even started to hide my journaling, which I am famous for doing, under the picture, but again, I was determined to be brave. Here is my entry for the Serenity challenge

The journaling reads:
"I love sitting on the pier at sunset. It is the one spot in this world that is
always peaceful and quiet. Maybe, it is the gorgeous view. Maybe, it is because there are so few people. Maybe it is because it reminds me of my Dad.
Whatever the reason, I feel peaceful at the lake."

Layout #3 for SCRAPFIT Challenge #19

This layout was not only done with old left-over items, it is an old picture. It is a picture of my family from 1998 and one of the last photos ever taken of my Dad. The sister's tiny little baby in the picture is now 12 years old and my son, standing between my husband and me is now 23 years old and stands about 6'4" tall! This is the only copy of the picture I have since we didn't have digital cameras back in 1998, or at least I didn't have one. I don't even have the negative because it was taken with my sister's camera. To be honest, I had a very hard time scrapping this picture. It is the first picture I have been able to scrap of my Dad since he passed away. I've wanted to, I just wasn't able to. It was extremely emtional, I looked at the picture for a very long time before I adhered it to the page. I don't know that I did it justice, but you can actually lift the picture up for my journaling, which is way to personal to show. I think I need to write a note to my friend Cristal at http://dirtyscraps.blogspot.com/ and let her know that I finally "understand" DIRTY scrapbooking. Scrapbooking isn't always easy.

Sorry, to ramble on! Thanks for looking!

Layout #2 for SCRAPFIT Workout Challenge #19

Now remember why I love to scrapbook! It makes me happy! I am out of my "yucky" mood and ready for summer! Here is my 2nd layout using nothing new! The brown background paper is so old the edges were bent so I hid them with the pretty patterned paper. I got the chipboard letters several months ago from a store called "Tuesday Morning". I don't use chipboard very often, but I really like these.

Card for SCRAPFIT Mini-Challenge

The mini-challenge over at http://www.scrapfit.blogspot.com/ said "All you have to do is make a card using some of the same scraps that you used to make your LO for WO #19". Hmmmm. . . . I thought it would be easy, but since I was using scraps already, it got to be a little more difficult. Here is my card, made from the same scraps as my first layout. I didn't use red for the accent color because I didn't have enough left, so I substituted green.

As usual, this card is for my sweet friend Lottie. She is battling lung cancer and she has had a rough week. I never show the inside of my cards because I don't share my message with anyone but Lottie.

Thanks for much for looking!

I'm (finally) Scrapping Again!

WOW, it has been a while since I have actually sat down and scrapped. I really hate when that happens too. But, leave it to http://www.scrapfit.blogspot.com/ to get me back on track. This time the assignment was "Recycling Made Fun. This is a USE UR STASH challenge---nothing new allowed!!" Extremely east for me because I have not bought anything new in what seems like forever. This layout is a great example, the layout was done around my son's college graduation and the background paper was bought for his HIGH SCHOOL graduation. YIKES! The other black and white papers were left over from a mini book I did for a friend's birthday several months ago. The tiny bit of red was was left over from a wedding album I did two years ago. My goodness, I never throw ANYTHING away :) Thanks for looking.

Scrapfit March Sketch

Here is my entry in the March Scrapfit Sketch Challenge. SURPRISE, it isn't a baseball layout! But it is one of my favorite subjects my son, Jay. Thank you for looking.

WORKOUT #16

I'm sure everyone expected me to do a baseball layout and of course I did! The workout required me to use at least 4 circles, multiple fonts, 2 pictures and distressing. GOT IT! Here it is and thanks for looking!

I Can't Stop!

That's right, I did 2 entries for the Blog Hop at http://scrapfit.blogspot.com/
Here is my layout entry. Don't faint, it isn't a baseball layout hehehehe! This layout is of two of my favorite people, my son Jay and his adorable girlfriend Christina.

One of the requirements for this layout was to add an insect. Well, you have to look VERY close to see it. Here it is

Again, thanks for looking!!!!

Another Blog Hop

I guess I really enjoyed the last Blog Hop over at http://scrapfit.blogspot.com/ because I just had to participate in the latest one!!! The objective was to "hop" to the different design team blogs and get our assignment. Here is the first of my entries. Yes, I said first because I did both a card and a layout. Here is my card entry
The hardest part to me was the "bling". I'm not a very blinging person, so this was a stretch. Here are some close-ups of my "bling".

Thanks for looking at my blog!!!

My First Blog Hop

This is the first time I have been involved in a blog hop and I really enjoy it. I started off at http://sassylilsketches.blogspot.com/2010/02/get-sassy-with-dirty-fitgirls-blog-hop.html and got my sketch. Next, I went to my friend Cristal's blog http://dirtyscraps.blogspot.com/ and picked up my theme. Finally, I went to Kelly's blog http://scrapfit.blogspot.com/ and got my final instructions. Here is my interpretation of the assignment!
The instructions at scrapfit.com said to use silver and ribbon. I actually used a silver ribbon. Here is a close up of the ribbon.

A lovely honor!

I just found out that I was Design Team's Layout of the Day yesterday (Saturday, Feb. 20th) over at TreasuredScrapbooking.com!!!! What a lovely honor. Here is the layout they picked:

New Baseball Layouts

Here are some layouts that I finished up yesterday. I am trying desperately to finish my son's albums by the time he graduates in May!!!! Thanks to SCRAPFIT.com and TREASUREDSCRAPBOOKING.com and their wonderful challenges, I might actually get done. Here are some more

Card Sketch

I don't usually post all the cards I make but I really like this one. It is a tag-card made from the sketch over at http://scrapfit.forumsland.com/scrapfit-about13.html

Febuary Challenges

I've been kinda busy lately just trying to figure out how to do a monochromatic layout over at http://scrapfit.blogspot.com/ At first, I thought it would be easy since my color choices were black, red, white or pink (okay, pink was never really an option for me!) and I do a lot of these colors because they are, opps were, Jay's college baseball colors. The problem came when I realized I'd never done a layout with just ONE of the colors!!! As always I grabbed black - nope didn't work. Then red - not really right. WHITE??? Well it took a while but I think I made the right choice. The white really makes the pictures pop and the mesh added some texture. I hope you enjoy my first monochromatic layout.

Here is some of the lettering up close

2nd layout for Scrapfit Challenge #12

I know, I got carried away doing layouts for the http://scrapfit.blogspot.com/ challenge. I just couldn't help it! This layout was lifted from Amyee's (ONE of my favorites to steal ideas from) August challenge. Again, when I saw her layout I knew exactly what picture I was going to use.

First layout for Scrapfit Challenge #12

Here is the first layout that I did for the http://scrapfit.blogspot.com/ Challenge #12. I "lifted" Katie's August layout. The minute I saw it I knew exactly what layout I wanted to make with it. This is my son, Jay, visiting with his cousin's little league team. His cousins, Ross and Jack were officially superstars for having a cousin who played college baseball.

Card Making Day

The other day I received a thank you note from my dear friend Lottie. Lottie has been battling lung cancer (NO, she has never smoked) for almost 2 years now, and I love to send her little cards and notes to cheer her up and let her know I am thinking about her. In her note to me she said I was her biggest cheerleader (I really hope she didn't mean SIZE!). Anyway, that got me to thinking about my next card. This is what I came up with . . . .

Lottie is an Auburn fan so of course the card had to be orange and blue. Here is a close up of my little cheerleader. . .

I love to do paper piecings and I found this cheerleader on a free clipart site.

Happy Monday!

Greetings from Hoover, Alabama! We started back to school today. Our Christmas break was extended because of a couple of snow days that really didn't produce very much snow. I loved what we did today and I just had to post it. Remember, in Alabama we hardly ever see snow so we used garbage bags and newspaper to make snowman. His arms are twisted strips of plain brown bags. My class had the best time!
Isn't he cute?

White Sale

Here is a layout for one of this month's challenges over at http://www.treasuredscrapbooking.com/ This challenge was hard for me, you were suppose to use a white background. AHHH! No color! It was tough, but here it is . . . .

Photobucket

Bundle up!

Another layout for Winter Wonderland crop at http://scrapfit.freeforums.org/
This layout was suppose to be inspired by a quilt. As always, here is a layout of my son Jay. This was during a 2009 Jacksonville State baseball game against Harvard. I hope you like the layout!

Photobucket

A Home Sweet Home and Budget layout too

This is a double duty layout. Two forums were having a crop at the same time
http://www.treasuredscrapbooking.com/ and http://scrapfit.freeforums.org/
Of course another layout of my son Jay. This is Jay playing for Jacksonville State University in a game against Harvard.

Another SCRAPFIT challenge

This layout is for http://scrapfit.freeforums.org/ Winter Wonderland Crop.

Photobucket

I was suppose to "mix things up" and I think I did. This layout is of my son with ribbon and flowers.

Singing with the Beatles

This challenge was to design a layout around a song from The Beatles. My first thought was one of my favorite songs, "Words of Love"

Photobucket

The second one is the Beatles birthday song. This is me sharing a birthday with my nephew, Alex.

Photobucket
A new challenge for one of my favorite blogs/websites. Use the phrase "It's a Wonderful Life" and use some stitching. Well, I'm a baseball mom so when I think of stitching, I think of a baseball. Here is the Jacksonville State baseball team after becoming the Ohio Valley Conference regular season CHAMPIONS!! Thank you for looking!
